| Smoke and Mirrors: Ultra-Rapid-Scan FT-IR
    Spectrometry
A few points are inescapable. Much higher scan rates and mirror velocities
than have ever been used before have been demonstrated. Work to date has only scratched
the surface of design possibilities for very-rapid-scan interferometers. These scans
speeds will probably find applications in monitoring non-repeatable or noisy transients,
spectral imaging and process monitoring. Much work remains to be done to understand the
noise sources that are adversely affecting these measurements.
