Sensitivity Issues in Step-Scan FT-IR Spectrometry
The source cooling jacket is a cold-sink for
convective heat transfer from the laser and the globar radiating element. To reduce heat
transfer, it was insulated with blown polyolefin pipe insulation on the cylinder walls,
and with fiberglass wool on top where it is too hot for polyolefin. An IR transparent
crystal is used to prevent the escape of heated air through the aperture.
